Seller Spotlight: Artful Ink Studios
A look at how buy now, pay later brings big-ticket purchases within reach for consumers
A new tattoo is a big investment, especially for the younger clientele that frequent Artful Ink, an Australia-based tattoo studio. Co-founder Kiara Musca saw the value in an innovative payment solution from the beginning, and slowly built her business by establishing a way to process payments, build a website, manage staff, and accept appointments, all through Square. 14
The studio has a range of tattoo artists and offers its clientele a convenient multichannel experience. Customers can learn more about each artist – and the services they provide – online. Then, they can book artists directly through the studio’s sites.
But convenience extends beyond the appointment. Artful Ink leverages buy now, pay later to bring tattoos — which can add up to $400 or more — within reach, particularly for younger consumers.
Musca says her younger clientele often leverage Afterpay as a way to pay for tattoos. She estimates most of her clientele use contactless payments, many use Afterpay, and about 5% still transact with cash. "Everybody knows what Afterpay is, everybody has Afterpay,” says Musca.
A lot of the younger clients use Afterpay, people between the ages of 18 and 24. Tattoos are on the pricier side."
