What stands in the way of restaurant leaders in reaching their goals this year? It always comes down to time and money.
Take hiring, for example. Finding talent and retaining staff have been huge challenges for operators for years, and the restaurant sector has seen some of the largest hourly wage increases since 2022, according to Restaurants Canada. With food prices expected to continue rising, 41% of Canadian mid-size restaurant owners are investing in technology in response to wage inflation or price pressure.
But despite efforts to leverage technology to run more efficiently, 73% of leaders still say they spend more time on hiring than they did last year, while three in four said they spend more time on business operations and management activities.
