AI is Moving Into Restaurant Business Applications
The impact general AI business apps like chatbots have had on guests, and the bottom line is getting respondents really excited about what AI can do in restaurant-specific software.
Many developers have already added features such as AI-assisted team announcements to help managers write messages to staff and tools to digitize and sort invoices to remove time and errors in accounting processes. Restaurants are starting to use AI technology to generate menus with just a few inputs and write compelling item descriptions in their POS systems.
Menu GeneratorRestaurants can gain valuable momentum by opening or relaunching with Square, populating their full menu in just a few minutes and with just a few inputs.
Huh already uses AI to digitize invoices in his restaurant. Now his team is automatically notified when a bill is due, and the AI component can recognize ingredients and quickly sort items into their appropriate categories.
As a result, our invoice processing system has a much smaller margin for human error, and the time it takes to process invoices has scaled back to under 24 hours."
In the next two years, restaurants expect the biggest adoption in kitchen management, where AI is poised to do everything from timing food prep to controlling robot chefs to using computer vision to ensure consistency and quality. They’re also planning on using AI for menu optimization and/or recipe development, marketing campaign, management and predictive analytics. (See Chart 9.)
It’s all about using the power of AI to revolutionize the way restaurants manage their operations, enhance efficiency, and provide personalized experiences that delight guests. Restaurants will understand and control their operations better so they can keep upping the game in innovation and performance.
